The worst (and best) countries in the world for women, 2020

women tourist

The best (and worst) countries in the world for women have been revealed by the U.S. News Report – and the United States does not feature in the top 10. Denmark was hailed as the best country in the world for women, while Sweden and the Netherlands placed second and third, respectively.

The United States ranked 15th in the annual best countries report, despite its economy dwarfing every country above it, while the United Kingdom came 13th. Being a woman in the United Kingdom is not the best place to be in the world, according to a new ranking of countries.

Norway and Canada rounded out the top five, followed by Finland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, and Austria.

The Best Countries report evaluated 73 nations across 65 different categories. It surveyed more than 20,000 people in the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We asked our experts to rate each of the selected countries.

Other economic superpowers to feature on the list were Germany (11th), France (14th), Italy (16th), Japan (18th), China (22nd), Russia (31st), and India (58th).
