Mark Wahlberg has been named the most overpaid actor of 2017 by Forbes magazine. Wahlberg is said to have brought in just $4.40 at the box office for every dollar he was paid.

It’s important to note that female actors were not excluded from this study.

Wahlberg is followed by Christian Bale, Channing Tatum, Denzel Washington, and Brad Pitt.

What constitutes “overpaid actor” and how did Forbes compile this list?

Magazine calculates the list based upon the last 3 movies actors starred in leading up to June 1, 2017, but not including animated films, minor/cameo roles, or those films shown on less than 2,000 screens.

The 5 Most Overpaid Actors In Hollywood – a mix of star power and disappointing performances:

1. Mark Wahlberg:
Mark Wahlberg’s movies earned $4.40 at the box office for every $1 he made.

2. Christian Bale
Christian Bale’s movies earned $6.70 at the box office for every $1 he made.

3. Channing Tatum
Channing Tatum’s movies earned $7.60 at the box office for every $1 he made.

4. Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington’s movies earned $10.40 at the box office for every $1 he made.

5. Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt’s movies earned $11.50 at the box office for every $1 he made.
