The 7 Secret Highly Successful Business Leaders Know About Time Management

Have you ever felt that there’s so much that you need to do, but not enough time to do that? Do you have this constant feeling that time passes too quickly? Well, if so, then you my friend, need to master the art of time management. The more organized you are, the less time-crunch stress you will have to deal with.

Here are some amazing time management secrets. These are really important for those who try to multi task throughout the day, to no avail. These secrets will help you keep your calm and get more done in less time. Let’s take a look at them!

These are the 7 top secret highly-successful business leaders know about Time Management:

Secret #1: Focus on one task at a time

Set task priority and try to focus on the most urgent and most important task first. And, no. You can’t have two most important tasks. There has to be just one task which needs your utmost priority. Find out what is it, then give it the attention it seeks. Once its completed, go on to the next important task according to the priority and complete it. Worrying about too many important tasks won’t help you. Completing them one by one will.

“Instead of focusing on how much you can accomplish, focus on how much you can absolutely love what you’re doing.” – Leo Babauta

Secret #2: Don’t fall into the dangerous trap of procrastination

Edward Young once said, “Procrastination is the thief of time”. And, he said it well. Procrastinating things just take you away from completing them when you can. You worry about a thing, but still procrastinate it. The next day, you have two things in hand, and more worries to tackle. So, stop falling into the dangerous trap of procrastination and complete things on time. You will have less worries to face.

“My advice is, never do to-morrow what you can do today. Procrastination is the thief of time.” – Charles Dickens

Secret #3: Develop a habit of making notes

Successful people have the habit to note important things. You can either carry a pocket notebook with you to make notes, or use your smartphone to do the task. Whatever method you choose, make sure you write every important thing. You will save hours in recalling things later. And, you will thank yourself for this.

“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.” – Michael Altshuler

Secret #4: Don’t be scared of delegating things

You love doing things on your own. Great! But, you have to understand that you can’t do everything on your own. You need to share the load. This will lead you to better time management and you will be able to focus on just the important things that need your attention the most. Don’t freak out when it comes to delegating or dividing work amongst your team members. Understand the strong points of every individual and assign tasks accordingly. You will delegate work much more effectively and confidently, freeing up your time for other important jobs.

“Surround yourself with great people; delegate authority; get out of the way” – Ronald Reagan

Secret #5: Plan well

Have you ever heard of the adage – “Failing to plan is planning to fail”? Does it ring a bell with you? Your failure to plan ahead is one of the biggest reasons why you aren’t able to manage your time well. When you begin your day without any direction, you are lost even before you start. So, plan in advance and complete your tasks without getting stuck for direction.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Secret #6: Don’t get distracted too easily

A minute spent on scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed won’t really affect your productivity. Right? Wrong! One minute will lead to two and more, and you will never know where did your time go. Therefore, make sure you sit at your work desk without any distractions nearby. Say no to chatting with friends on IM, or going for those frequent coffee breaks. Be focused. Be productive. Be successful. It’s that simple!

“Until you shut down the doors to distractions you are not yet ready to succeed.” – Topsy Gift

Secret #7: Don’t ignore yourself

Juggling between work and family may leave little to no time for yourself. But giving time to yourself is highly important. Learn from the most successful people in the world. They give time to their bodies, their minds, and their souls. They exercise, meditate and indulge in all such activities that bring them happiness and peace of mind. So, take adequate rest and sleep well. Meditate and eat healthy. Give yourself the time and attention required to fuel the energy.

It’s not too difficult to set time for things you have to do. Come out of your comfort zone. Set up a disciplined routine of managing things and then stick to it. Slowly but surely, you will master the art of time management.
