Top 10 Countries That Produce The Most Hydroelectricity
China is the world’s largest producer of the hydroelectricity. The annual production of hydro electricity in China is estimated at 856.350 billion kilowatt hours, roughly double the produced by Brazil, in 2nd place.
Canada is 3rd in our list of top 10 countries that produce the most hydro electricity, which is 376.706 billion kilowatt hours a year. The next to feature in the list is the United States, in fourth; which produces 276.240 billion kilowatt hours a year. The 2012 data in the chart below is taken from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), which provides independent national and international energy statistics.

2. Brazil: 411.189 billion kilowatt hours a year.
3. Canada: 376.706 billion kilowatt hours a year.
4. United States: 276.240 billion kilowatt hours a year.
5. Russia: 164.423 billion kilowatt hours a year.
6. Norway: 140.473 billion kilowatt hours a year.
7. India: 124.569 billion kilowatt hours a year.
8. Venezuela: 81.188 billion kilowatt hours a year.
9. Sweden: 78.143 billion kilowatt hours a year.
10. Japan: 74.731 billion kilowatt hours a year.
