Global Founders Capital Backs 3 Investments: Lingoda, Videdressing, And GirlMeetsDress
For founders by founders venture fund, Global Founders Capital (The Samwer brothers $200m investment fund) has finally announced its first 3 investments: Lingoda, Videdressing, and GirlMeetsDress.
Oliver and Marc Samwer — founders of the Rocket Internet startup have teamed up with Fabian Siegel, the founder and architect of online food delivery startup Delivery Hero.
In addition to investing UK dress rental company GirlMeetsDress and Germany-based language-learning platform Lingoda.com , Global Founders Capital has invested $5 Million in French secondhand fashion marketplace Videdressing.
Videdressing, launched in 2009 by Meryl Job (an American who relocated to Paris) and Renaud Guillerm, claims to have increased transaction volumes fivefold during 2012, with more than 500,000 items listed from over 1,700 brands.
Videdressing is an effort to marry an online marketplace with a fashion-savvy retail environment to offer customers a unique shopping experience. Basically, it operates as a trusted third party between fashion buyers and sellers, securing all steps of the transactional process from payment to receipt of the merchandise.
