Volvo Cars Reshapes Leadership Enchacing Collaboration

Volvo Cars is revamping its commercial business structure to streamline operations, enhance collaboration, and accelerate decision-making. The move is aimed at reducing complexity and fostering a more agile work environment.

According to a company statement, Annwall, who has been with the automaker for nearly a decade and held his current role since June 2022, will assist with the transition before taking on a new role outside the company.

The leadership changes include several key appointments:

  • Arek Nowinski will step into the role of president of International Markets, overseeing Volvo’s business operations in Europe, the U.S., Canada, APEC, and Latin America, as well as global importers. He will also handle volume planning and the global product offering.
  • Gretchen Saegh-Fleming, currently leading global marketing, will expand her responsibilities to include customer experience, incorporating brand management, customer care, and experience analytics.
  • Oscar Bertilsson Olsborg, the former CFO of Volvo Cars Americas, will become head of global commercial operations. In this role, he will manage retailer and service development, along with commercial digital operations, and will report directly to CEO Jim Rowan.
  • Erik Severinson, currently chief product and strategy officer, will take on additional responsibilities, leading the company’s commercial strategy as well as overseeing product strategy, sustainability, digital innovation, and energy operations.

The executive team has seen other significant changes in recent months. In May, after the departure of former COO and deputy CEO Javier Varela—who joined Rivian—Severinson, along with Anders Bell, chief engineering and technology officer, and Francesca Gamboni, chief supply chain officer, began reporting directly to Rowan.

Other members of Volvo Cars’ executive leadership include CFO Johan Ekdahl, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer Helen Hu, Chief People Officer Hanna Fager, and Chief Communication and External Affairs Officer Olivia Ross-Wilson.
