Investments of Footballer Martin Braithwaite in Real Estate Make Him Richer
Footballers’ salaries and sponsorship deals continue to skyrocket, particularly in the Premier League, where TV revenues are soaring, and fifteen out of twenty clubs are owned by billionaires. While many players are content to live off their substantial earnings, others leverage their income to build even greater wealth through business ventures. One standout example is Espanyol forward Martin Braithwaite, who has become one of the sport’s wealthiest individuals in 2024.
At 33, Braithwaite has had a fluctuating career on the field, playing for Middlesbrough and Leganes before a late-career stint at Barcelona. He eventually moved to Espanyol in Spain’s second tier. However, his off-field ventures have been far more lucrative.
Unlike Mathieu Flamini, whose ventures have made him worth over $128 billion, Braithwaite is still actively playing while amassing significant wealth. Despite earning a modest $25,58 a week at Espanyol, Braithwaite has made a fortune in real estate. His partnership stake in NYCE Companies has boosted his net worth to over $287 million.
Braithwaite’s real estate journey began in 2017 when he invested approximately $850,000 with his uncle, Philip Michael. By the end of that year, their investment had grown to $9.2 million. By 2021, their enterprise had expanded dramatically, owning 1,500 apartments with an additional 500 under development. Their focus on providing affordable housing in historically black neighborhoods in Philadelphia and New Jersey has been a key factor in their success.
