Reinsurance Group of America Announces New CFO and Executive Leadership Transition as Todd Larson Retires
Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) has announced the appointment of Axel André as Executive Vice President starting June 24, 2024, with his transition to Chief Financial Officer on August 5, 2024. Todd Larson, the current CFO, will assume the role of Special Advisor to the CEO until his retirement on December 31, 2024.
Axel André joins RGA from American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company (AEL), where he has served as Executive Vice President and CFO since 2021. Prior to AEL, André held the position of Executive Vice President and CFO at Jackson National Life Insurance. His career also includes a seven-year tenure at American International Group (AIG), where he eventually became CFO for the Individual Retirement division.
Tony Cheng, President and CEO of RGA, praised Larson’s nearly 30-year tenure at the company, highlighting his significant contributions to RGA’s financial and capital management functions. Cheng noted that Larson built and led a talented and diverse financial team, strengthening the company under his leadership. Larson’s extensive experience in the industry and capital markets has laid a solid foundation for RGA’s future capital management.
Cheng expressed enthusiasm for André’s appointment, citing his impressive track record and extensive experience in the life insurance industry. He emphasized that André’s leadership qualities and deep insurance knowledge align with RGA’s commitment to excellence and growth. Cheng is confident that André’s contributions will be instrumental in guiding RGA’s strategic initiatives and driving the company’s continued success.
