CEO of Jumeirah Group Katerina Giannouka to Depart

Katerina Giannouka, the CEO of Jumeirah Group, has decided to step down from her role, according to an internal communication from Dubai Holding, the owners of Jumeirah. The communication, signed by CEO Amit Kaushal, informed staff of this change. Jumeirah Group confirmed that Giannouka is taking a temporary leave to address personal matters before pursuing new opportunities.

While Giannouka remains in Dubai for the time being, Thomas B. Meier, the current COO of Jumeirah Group, will serve as the interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found. Meier, who previously assumed this role in 2022 following the departure of CEO Jose Silva, brings a wealth of experience to the organization.

In acknowledgment of Giannouka’s contributions, Jumeirah released a statement praising her leadership and commitment, highlighting her role in enhancing the brand’s global presence and performance. Giannouka’s appointment as Jumeirah’s first female CEO marked a significant milestone for the company and the industry, underscoring her role as a trailblazer in leadership.

Giannouka expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with Jumeirah and Dubai Holding, emphasizing her efforts in establishing a strong foundation for the group’s growth trajectory beyond 2030.

Jumeirah emphasized Meier’s capabilities in maintaining operational excellence and delivering exceptional guest experiences during his tenure. Giannouka, who joined Jumeirah in December 2022, brought extensive experience from her previous roles, including as Asia Pacific president at Radisson Hotel Group and as a development vice president for Rosewood across Asia Pacific and China.
