Toss Bank Elevates Industry Veteran Rhee Eun-mi to CEO Position
In a strategic move aimed at consolidating its leadership position in the digital banking landscape, Toss Bank has appointed Rhee Eun-mi, former Chief Financial Officer of DGB Daegu Bank, as its new CEO.
Pending approval at the group’s general board meeting on March 28, Rhee is slated to assume the CEO role for a two-year term, succeeding Hong Min-taek, the incumbent CEO who opted not to seek reappointment upon completion of his tenure next month.
Rhee’s appointment follows rigorous evaluation by the bank’s CEO recommendation committee, which recognized her profound understanding of the banking industry and track record of making strategic decisions that drive sustainable growth.
Rhee’s tenure at DGB Daegu Bank, where she served as CFO and managing director, underscored her adeptness in decision-making, particularly in the realm of risk management. Notably, she played a pivotal role in the transformation of the regional bank into a nationwide commercial powerhouse.
Rhee’s extensive educational background in business administration, accounting, financial analysis, and risk management, coupled with her certifications as a certified accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst, further underscore her qualifications to lead Toss Bank into its next phase of growth and success.
With her deep insights into global finance and the economy, Toss Bank anticipates that Rhee will steer the company toward sustained growth amidst volatile domestic and international market conditions.
Having recorded its maiden quarterly net profit in the third quarter of last year since its inception in 2021, Toss Bank is poised to capitalize on Rhee’s wealth of experience and leadership acumen to further solidify its market position and drive innovation in the digital banking sphere.
Describing Rhee as the ideal candidate to lead Toss Bank, the lender highlighted her exceptional achievements, organizational management prowess, and extensive expertise garnered from her distinguished career both domestically and internationally.
