CoinDesk Undergoes Leadership Transition Amid Bullish Acquisition

Amidst a significant overhaul led by its new owner, crypto exchange Bullish, CoinDesk bids farewell to its longstanding CEO, Kevin Worth. Stepping into Worth’s shoes is Sara Stratoberdha, formerly spearheading business development at Bullish.

A spokesperson for CoinDesk assures that despite the transition, the company’s journalistic autonomy and integrity will remain intact under Stratoberdha’s stewardship. This restructuring follows Bullish’s recent acquisition of CoinDesk from its previous owner, Digital Currency Group.

The shakeup extends beyond the CEO position, with several key figures from CoinDesk’s leadership, including Chief Operating Officer Elinor Hirschhorn, Vice President of Engineering John DeGuenther, and Executive Director of Global Strategy Emily Parker, bidding adieu.

While Chief Content Officer Michael Casey transitions away from a full-time role, discussions are underway to retain his involvement with CoinDesk in an alternative capacity.

Employees of both CoinDesk and Bullish were notified of these changes via a memo from Bullish CEO Tom Farley. Farley emphasizes the restructuring’s aim to streamline CoinDesk’s operations and align its media, indices, and events divisions within a more cohesive organizational framework. Certain functions, such as Human Resources, will now fall under Bullish’s purview, while CoinDesk’s tech and product teams will integrate with Bullish.

Farley expresses gratitude towards Worth and the outgoing leadership team for steering CoinDesk to its current status and successfully navigating the merger with Bullish. He looks forward to the new leadership, led by Sara and her team, to drive growth and investment in CoinDesk’s media, events, and indices segments.
