Sharb Farjami to Lead the North American Operations of GroupM
Sharb Farjami is set to lead the North American operations of GroupM, a prominent player in media investments affiliated with WPP. Farjami takes over from Adam Gerhart, who served as the interim CEO of GroupM North America. Gerhart will continue in his role at GroupM agency Mindshare as the CEO of global operations.
GroupM’s North American business has been without a permanent executive since the departure of Kirk McDonald in 2020. Farjami will maintain oversight of Wavemaker in North America until a replacement is appointed.
Formerly the CEO of North America for Wavemaker, a major media-buying unit within GroupM, Farjami’s hands-on and collaborative leadership style, coupled with his insightful perspectives on industry trends, was highlighted by GroupM Global CEO Christian Juhl. Juhl commended Farjami’s diverse industry experience, encompassing roles on both the agency and publisher sides in various global markets. Farjami’s success in utilizing the GroupM platform to benefit Wavemaker’s clients is positioned as a model for the organization’s future.
Farjami held senior leadership positions at Foxtel, News Corp, and Viacom before joining Wavemaker. Expressing confidence in GroupM’s ability to enhance clients’ media investments and elevate the role of marketing, Farjami emphasized the privilege and responsibility he feels in driving innovation for clients during the organization’s next transformation phase.
