Report: These Are The Best Selling Pickup Trucks In The United States

Ford F-Series

Pickup trucks have always been popular among farmers, landscapers, and tradespeople due to their excellent towing and hauling capabilities. In recent years, however, their appeal has expanded to a wider market, making them one of the most popular vehicle segments in the U.S.. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the number of registered pickup trucks in the U.S. increased by 71 percent between 1995 and 2019, from 28.2 million to 48.3 million. These are also the most fuel-efficient new trucks available on the market.

Pickup trucks offer several advantages over popular vehicle segments such as sedans, crossover SUVs, and minivans. In addition to their versatility and capacity provided by an open bed, high ground clearance, and a powerful engine, pickups typically maintain their resale value better than other vehicles and have a proven reputation for reliability. These qualities, which make pickups ideal work vehicles, have also contributed to their growing popularity as daily drivers and even family cars.

Modern-day pickup trucks have come a long way since the 1980s and 1990s. They now come with luxurious interiors, and cutting-edge infotainment systems, and can comfortably seat up to five adults. With their broad appeal, U.S. pickup truck sales reached a staggering 2.7 million in 2022. However, when choosing the perfect make and model, consumers have some clear preferences. Using 2022 car sales data, CEOWORLD magazine has identified the most popular pickup trucks in the country. All mass-produced pickup truck models available in the US have been ranked based on their total sales in the calendar year of 2022.

The three top-selling pickup trucks of 2022 are also the top-selling vehicles in any segment, with each of them selling over 400,000 units last year alone. The Ford F-Series impressively sold nearly 654,000 units in 2022 and has held the title of best-selling vehicle in the US for 41 consecutive years. However, owning a Ford F-150 has its pros and cons. The Toyota Tacoma, selling almost 216,000 units in 2022, is the simplest midsize truck to rank among the top 5 most famous pickups in the U.S. The Tacoma has been the country’s best-selling midsize truck for 18 consecutive years.
