Wang Ke Replaces Ivy Au-Yeung at OCBC in Hong Kong due to Retirement

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) has disclosed the appointment of Wang Ke as the new Chief Executive Officer for its Hong Kong operations. Wang will assume his new position on December 15, succeeding Ivy Au-Yeung, who will retire on December 31.

Wang’s leadership abilities were notably recognized during his tenure as CEO of OCBC China from December 2019 to October 2023. During this period, he effectively navigated the bank through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, achieving substantial profit growth. Wang Ke’s elevation follows a significant tenure at OCBC, during which he played a crucial role in steering the bank’s strategic direction in Greater China.

His journey began in 2012 at OCBC as the head of Information Technology in China, progressing through various roles, including leading the Pearl River Delta region and serving as the CEO of the merged entity OCBC Wing Hang in China. More recently, he was appointed as the head of Greater China, contributing significantly to OCBC’s “One Group” strategy aimed at bolstering cross-border banking collaboration.

Ivy Au-Yeung, retiring at the end of December, has been acknowledged for her contributions, including the rebranding from OCBC Wing Hang Hong Kong to OCBC Hong Kong and overseeing the integration with OCBC Wing Hang Hong Kong in 2021. Au-Yeung also played a pivotal role in succession planning for nine leadership roles and maintaining asset quality during her tenure, particularly amidst the pandemic.

Helen Wong, the bank’s Group CEO, commended the cohesive structure established under Wang’s leadership, emphasizing its role in enhancing synergy across the bank’s banking services. This restructured setup will involve OCBC China’s Ang Eng Siong and Macau’s Kelvin Lou reporting directly to Wang, reinforcing the bank’s integrated approach.
