Denise Dresser is the new CEO of Slack
The new CEO of Slack, Denise Dresser, has a longstanding history with Salesforce, where she has served in various executive roles for over 12 years. The announcement of her appointment was made by Salesforce co-founder and CEO Marc Benioff. Dresser’s leadership role is effective immediately, according to a spokesperson from Salesforce.
Dresser takes over from Lidiane Jones, the recent CEO of Slack, who accepted the Chief Executive position at the dating app Bumble earlier this month. Jones will stay on to assist Dresser with the transition until the end of the year.
Dresser’s extensive experience includes various executive positions at Salesforce, and she currently serves on the Ad Council’s board of directors. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has previous professional experience at Oracle and former Big Five auditor Arthur Andersen.
The acquisition of Slack by Salesforce took place in a $27.7 billion deal in 2020. Since then, there have been notable departures of senior executives from Salesforce, including Slack founder Stewart Butterfield and Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor in December 2022. Despite these changes, Salesforce shares have seen a significant increase, up nearly 61% year to date.
Denise Dresser expressed her gratitude to both Benioff and Jones in a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Benioff, in his announcement, praised Dresser as a collaborative technology leader with a deep commitment to values, customers, and innovation.
