Pieter Elbers, the CEO of IndiGo, has been elected as the Chair-Elect of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors. He will assume the role of Chair in June 2024, succeeding Yvonne Manzi Makolo, the CEO of Rwandair.

With a long and successful career in the aviation industry, Pieter’s journey began at KLM in 1992. Over the years, he held various positions within the company, ultimately becoming the Chief Operating Officer in 2011 and later serving as CEO from 2014 until 2022. His extensive experience and leadership in the airline industry have made him highly respected.

Pieter’s appointment as the Chair-Elect of IATA’s Board of Governors reflects the recognition of his expertise and contributions to the industry. In this role, he will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the global aviation sector, collaborating with industry leaders and stakeholders to address key challenges and drive sustainable growth.

Under his leadership, IndiGo has experienced significant expansion, expecting to reach over 100 million annual passengers by early 2024.
