The 4 gifts of living – what is wonderful about life

Happy people playing at the beach

Living is a unique gift that is often not treated with the respect it deserves. We take life for granted and we do not take a moment to see what separates us from non-living creations or even ling organisms that belong to the animal kingdom and not to the human race. Life for humans as we know it is a wonderful opportunity to become full of positivity and reflect that back to the universe.

All this may sound too mellow, but if you think about it life is indeed marvelous. The idea is not only to compare ourselves with other people but with other creatures as well. Let’s take a moment and consider all of these things that separate us from everything around us and see how blessed we are.

  1. Learn
Isn’t it great that life is a school for everything? Some people say that life ends the day you stop learning. For many people, this is what life is all about. The opportunity to explore and find out things that had never crossed your mind before. It is, indeed, mind-blowing to discover how this unique game of living is being played.
Each ”actor” decides to play the game in a different way and this reveals the complexity and beauty of life. For many of us this is the purpose; live to learn. Learning is not just a way to find out things that will help us stay alive and honestly it is not just about that. Learning is a way to be happy. In fact, this is scientifically proven as well. There are certain areas in our brains that every time we learn something new they are being activated releasing particular substances and making us happy. This is why enlightenment is so strictly connected with the process of learning.

  2. Change
Together with the learning process comes the ability to change and improve ourselves. We come as incomplete and imperfect creations and we leave this world carrying a pearl of wisdom that we never thought we could obtain. Changing has to do with learning, however, at this point, we take a step forward and take advantage of this knowledge.
We are not just observers of the things that happen around us but we can also take the initiative and change ourselves as well as try to change the world and have an impact on it. The change includes the opportunity to offer and see all the interesting opportunities that come along. Being willing to offer allows us to improve ourselves and the conditions around us.

  3. Love
Perhaps the most magnificent thing about living is that one will have the chance to experience the most amazing gift of all; the gift of love. According to all religions all over the world, love is the ultimate purpose in life, the only thing that can make you happy, and the best way to make others happy as well. Love and freedom are connected in the most strong bond.
Freedom is the ability to do what you love, according to Ancient Greeks who set the boundaries of many philosophies. Another way to get closer to love and have the opportunity to experience it is by being honest. Honesty breaks you free from the fear of what others may think and gives you the chance to purify yourself and experience unconditional love. Last but not least, let us not forget that love is not about being loved but mainly about love. It is an energetic act and has its source in the good intentions and absence of fear.

  4. Pleasures
Nature wants us alive for some reason that we have yet not managed to understand. In any case, it provides us with the instinct of survival and reproduction. To make this tempting for us it comes with a package of pleasures that make us feel good. Food is delicious, resting is amazing, and so on. Life is worth living it even if it was just for enjoying our existence. Seriously, we would need a lifetime to discover all of the fruits that are hanging on the trees inviting us to taste them. Life is full of temptations that make it really hard to resist.
