Here are the Best 5 Universities in Romania To Know

Beyond fable Vampires and exquisite castles, Romania has plenty of varied giveaways to those interested. One is higher education. Yes, while like many European countries, its universities have been overshadowed by mainstream choices. Nevertheless, there is so much potential to be tapped over here. Gradually, international applicants have shown interest in applying to Romanian universities. There has been an increase in the number of applications in its 49 public and 8 private universities and the popularity of courses in science and arts. So, given time and right direction, one can be certain that these universities should be able to perform better on international charts.

As I said, there are more than 50 universities over here. However, there are a few which are above all. We are going to restrict ourselves to those top 5 that have established themselves as Romanian pride. If anyone of you is interested in pursuing higher education over here, then make these 5 a priority!

  1. The University of Bucharest
    We shall start with one of the oldest universities in the country, the University of Bucharest. Founded in the year 1864, it is a prestigious public university and a member of a group of elite Romanian universities. It is generally considered to be one of the highest-ranked Romanian universities. Currently, students can avail courses in English as well as Romanian. As many as 19 faculties are covering a wide range of programs; these faculties include those of History, Geology, Journalism and Communication studies, Letters, Foreign languages and Literature, and Biology. To bolster research aptitude and increase research output, a number of research units have been formed such as the UNESCO Department for Intercultural and interreligious exchanges.

  1. Alexandru loan Cuza University
    Alexandru loan Cuza University, or simply UAIC, is the oldest university in Romania and is regarded as a dream university for many Romanians. Its reputation has enabled it to become associated with many venerated associations such as the International Association of Universities, Coimbra Group, and the European University Association. Its academic organization is made up of 15 faculties that include the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Faculty of Computer Science, and the Faculty of Catholic Theology. There is also a Centre for European Studies that was founded in the year 2000.

  1. Babeș-Bolyai University
    When it comes to the numbers of enrolment, then Babes-Bolyai University tops the chart. Christened after the famed Victor Babeș, a scientist, and János Bolyai, a mathematician, this university has climbed up ranks and is part of the best-ranked universities in the country. It is a public university that was founded in the year 1919 and has undergone a lot of transformation to reach its current state. Its programs are offered in many languages such as Romanian, English, Japanese, Italian, French, and German. Its faculties include those of Mathematics and Informatics, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Law, Sociology and Social Assistance, and Physical Education and Sport. It has also partnered with 200+ universities across the globe.

  1. West University of Timișoara
    The West University of Timișoara is a relatively young university having been founded in the year 1962. With a very strong focus on research, it has been categorized as a research and education university. Presently, there are 11 faculties in toto; these faculties include the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Music and Theatre, the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology, the Faculty of Physics, and the Faculty of Political Sciences, Philosophy and Communication Sciences. It is also a member of the Universitaria Consortium, a group of five prestigious Romanian universities.

  1. Bucharest University of Economic Studies
    Known for being among the largest economic higher education institutions in Southeast Europe, Bucharest University of Economic Studies is the destination for those interested in the field. It has been categorized as an advanced research university and is an esteemed member of the Universitaria Consortium. Its research activities have been duly acknowledged and certified by the National Council of Science Research in Higher Education. Over here there are undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses which follow the directives of the Bologna declaration. Doctoral degree is also awarded. You can choose your course from a range of faculties related to Economics such as Marketing, Management, and Business and Tourism.
