Justin Bowman, CEO – Leading Air Charter Service Through Turbulent Times
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed serious challenges to the aviation industry, and many commercial and private flights have struggled to provide services in the face of severe travel bans all over the world. It takes a capable leader to guide a company through these turbulent times, and for Air Charter Service (ACS), that leader is Justin Bowman – an individual who has had a long and successful career in the aviation industry.
We provide insights into the ACS CEO by chronicling his career with the company and his achievements, and by also taking a look at the man himself.
Who is Justin Bowman?
Justin Bowman is the CEO of Air Charter Services, a company specialising in providing global chartering solutions. Justin himself is known throughout the charter industry for his “encyclopaedic” knowledge of aviation. According to ACS themselves, Justin is ”one of the most trusted and successful aircraft charter experts in Europe”.
His career with the company began in July 1995, after he graduated from Kingston University with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies. He started as a Team Leader in the Cargo Sales division, and for the next 25 years, advanced through the company. His journey through the ranks saw him become a Sales Director, then the CCO, before advancing to the position of COO and finally CEO, a position he has held since November 2013.
In addition to being a key part of the ACS boards, he is also a member of the Mountfitchet Group, and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Aeronautical Society back in 2016.
On a more personal level, Justin is a family man who lives with his wife and three children in Surrey. His favourite football team is Brighton and Hove Albion, and, being an avid sportsman himself, he spends much of his free time playing football with his local team. He is also very active within his community.
Justin Bowman, CEO
As CEO of a globally established charter company, Justin is well suited to the task. His degree in Business Studies, paired with 25 years working in various positions in the company, has given him an expert understanding of what ACS needs, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.
This familiarity with ACS and it’s values, beliefs and business model gives Justin the necessary experience to effectively manage the company. Also responsible for growing the company and cultivating a foothold in 27 different countries, Justin has studied Management at Ashridge Business School and Key Account Management at Cranfield School of Management during his time with ACS. These qualifications have not only helped him in achieving the company’s larger goals, but have also helped him in his day-to-day responsibilities.
His past positions within the company have given him knowledge of the cargo charter division, commercial and sales activities, allowed him to develop new offerings for the Commercial Jet Charter and Commercial Jet Lease divisions, and helped him to recruit the right individuals to key management roles.
Each of these positions has given Justin insider knowledge of many departments in the company, and helps him to make informed decisions about what the company has to do during these incredibly challenging times.
The Necessity of Strong Leadership In Uncertain Times
With the pandemic affecting all parts of life, CEOs have had a challenging year trying to keep people motivated and looking to a more hopeful future. During this difficult period, it’s important to have a strong leader who is able to take charge. CEOs have to be willing to make difficult decisions that will affect the company, and also provide much needed morale and inspiration to workers who are concerned for their careers and job security. This is especially true for leadership in the aviation industry, which has forever been changed by COVID-19.
Justin Bowman is just one example of a leader who has stepped up to meet these challenges. In such uncertain times, aviation companies will depend on leaders like him, who have the task of marshalling everyone to work towards a better, more hopeful future.
