Charities You Need to Know About

One Drop

The way the world works is a matter of circumstances. Being able to give is a huge advantage of someone’s character and not everybody is a giver. To survive as a community there has to be some kind of solidarity between each other. The one who has surplus ought to give to the one who is in a lack of basic goods. Only Europe hosts 3% of the total charities which means that as a number there are about 4,300 charities in the Union! For high-income people, philanthropy is also a way to reduce taxes. That way you get to choose where your money goes.

Especially in countries that government’s reliance is very low and people tend to doubt whether their taxes are being spent for a good purpose, charities are an alternative that more and more people start to choose. Apart from the financial point of view, it is also relieving to know that you can help other people live and thrive. Charities have a large spectrum where they can offer to the public and an overview of their plan can help you get an idea of whether any of them is a good fit for you.

  1. The European Foundation Center (EFC).
    Headquarters location:
    Brussels, Belgium
The organisation has approximately 254 members in 36 countries.
This foundation has a quite large variety of fields that they associate with, from migration, handicapped people, the environment, and culture and are active all over the planet. However, their basis is in many parts of the European Union. They are independent financially and in terms of administration, which allows them to use the term ”institutional philanthropy” when they refer to their foundation. In May of 2016, they set a framework for the next 6 years until 2022, which they review annually and is mostly oriented in strengthening their impact as an organization. They have made partnerships with strong institutions such as Alliance Publishing Trust, Network of European Foundations (NEF), European Program for Integration and Migration (EPIM), and Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmarket Support (WINGS). The future is very promising for the European Foundation Center and a visit to their website is highly recommended if you want to move on to the next step with them.
  2. One Drop.
    Headquarters location:
550 Beaumont Avenue, Suite 400, Montreal QC H3N 1V1, Canada
One Drop has projects in Latin America, India, Canada, and Africa.
As one might assume by the name of the foundation, One Drop is very sensitive in delivering clean water to every corner of the planet, helping people who struggle with diseases due to poor-quality water recover and live a healthy life. Of course, the foundation is also taking action all over the world. Let us not forget that it is the countries outside of the European Union that most need help. They are so established that Phillips, MGM Resorts International, RBC Foundation, and Power Corporation of Canada are among their donors. In March of 2020, they took action and they started the METRO Water Initiative where they have a campaign at METRO stores of Asia and Europe and they keep a percentage of the profits of specific products to help the water crisis in India. One Drop is very respected by all the charity community and the fact that they emphasize one single sector, has helped them become efficient and reflect a serious profile to the public.
  3. TrustBridge Global.
The exciting news about TrustBridge is that they have made it super easy for anybody to open a case and create a charity with the help of TrustBridge. The way TrustBridge works is through the so-called DAFs. The Donor Advised Fund offers the donors the possibility to make a charitable account. If they contribute some amount of money, they are very probable to get a tax deduction. You simply make an application and TrustBridge makes it happen for you. After the approval, you can direct your donors to donate TrustBridge. They provide a big plus for those who want to skip regulations and they practically take care of everything. If you want to go big and make a difference to the world promptly they are your people. They claim to have managed to connect donors and receivers from over 50 countries around the world. This itself is a great advantage in a digital world where everything is supposed to be easy and yet it is very confusing. The numbers for the past few years show that the foundation has 50,000 givers creating a flow of $2 billion per year with charities reaching 70,000
