Employees In These Countries Get The Most Paid Vacation Days Each Year

Employees in countries like Austria, Malta, Iceland, and the United Kingdom enjoy the highest number of paid vacation days. Americans and Mexican … not so much. Public attitudes to holidays differ from nation to nation.

The tiny Mediterranean island nation of Malta enjoys the highest number of days off work with 25 statutory days and 14 public holidays – total 39 days each year. Austria, which guarantees employees the second most paid time off each year, has a legal minimum of 38 paid vacation days each year.

By law, every nation in the European Union has at least four work weeks of paid vacation. Many Americans, Mexican, and Canadians, on the other hand, remain chained to their desks.

To identify, countries that reward their employees the most annual vacation days each year, CEOWORLD magazine reviewed 2018 figures from the Center for Economic Policy and Research and OECD Statistics database (the latest for which figures were available), the magazine reviewed major economies where employees have the most annual paid public holidays.
