Malaysian business tycoon, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, AirAsia CEO bought Queens Parks Rangers

Budget airline AirAsia Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, the owner of the Team Lotus Formula One, has become the new majority owner of Queen’s Park Rangers after buying 66% of the club owned by Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone. London-based steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and family, own a third of the club.

The Malaysian business tycoon, Tony Fernandes has labelled QPR a “fantastic diamond” and pledged to help the club reach its “limitless” potential over the coming years. “I’ve always wanted to be involved in football and the appeal of a London club like QPR was too good an opportunity to turn down,” Fernandes said in a statement issued by QPR.
