Fletcher Building’s Board Reshuffle

Amidst a wave of changes, Fletcher Building’s board undertakes a strategic refresh, drawing cautious approval from the Shareholders’ Association while calling for increased transparency in the process.

The baton passes to Nick Traber, slated to assume the mantle of interim chief executive, succeeding Ross Taylor, effective from the week’s end. Taylor’s departure, alongside chair Bruce Hassell, was unveiled last month following lackluster first-half results.

Anticipating a permanent replacement after the annual meeting in October, the interim reins fall to Traber, bringing to bear his three-year tenure as the chief executive of the company’s concrete division. Concurrently, Thornton Williams steps into the interim role as head of the concrete division.

Taylor, extending his support until August 23, commends Traber’s ascendancy, highlighting his robust performance and adept leadership within the organization.

As the board undergoes rejuvenation, Barbara Chapman assumes the chairmanship, with notable departures, including directors Doug McKay, effective June 30, and Rob McDonald, opting not to seek re-election.

Regrettably, the company’s top brass remains unavailable for comment on the interim developments, leaving stakeholders eager for insights into Fletcher Building’s strategic evolution.

While the appointment of Johnson Partners to facilitate the board’s review garners approval from the Shareholders’ Association, chief executive Oliver Mander underscores the need for enhanced shareholder involvement and transparency in the process.
