Nedbank has announced the appointment of Jason Quinn, the current Financial Director at Absa, as its incoming Chief Executive Officer, taking over from Mike Brown effective May 31, 2024. Brown will continue to support the transition to Quinn after stepping down from the board.
Quinn, a chartered accountant, brings extensive financial experience, having held various key positions at Absa. He served as the interim Group CEO at Absa between April 2021 and March 2022. Prior to his tenure at Absa, Quinn worked at Ernst & Young starting in 1992, eventually attaining a partner role from 2005 to 2008.
Daniel Mminele, Chairperson of Nedbank, expressed the board’s satisfaction in securing Quinn’s services, citing his proven track record in the South African and African banking sectors. Mminele emphasized Quinn’s potential to build upon the legacy established by Mike Brown.
Mminele also commended Brown for his significant contributions, acknowledging his commitment to Nedbank’s mission of leveraging financial expertise for societal good. Brown notably oversaw the successful separation from Old Mutual in 2018 and played a pivotal role in driving Nedbank’s digital transformation.
