OKX Expands in Singapore with Key License and Gracie Lin in the Role of CEO

OKX, a prominent global cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 technology firm, has announced that its Singapore-based entity, OKX SG Pte. Ltd. (OKX SG), has obtained a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Alongside this milestone, the company has appointed Gracie Lin as CEO of OKX SG.

The MPI license, granted under the Payment Services Act 2019 (PS Act), authorizes OKX SG to offer digital payment token services and cross-border money transfers, including the buying and selling of cryptocurrencies for customers within Singapore.

As CEO, Lin will lead the company’s strategic initiatives in the region, focusing on the development of digital payment token products and services tailored to the needs of the Singaporean market. Lin brings nearly 20 years of experience across the financial, public, and technology sectors. Before joining OKX, she led the Regional Strategy & Economics team at Grab and held various positions at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the sovereign wealth fund GIC, gaining deep expertise in management, operations, business strategy, and financial regulation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Master’s degree in International & Development Economics from Yale University.

The MPI license and Lin’s appointment are key developments for OKX as Singapore remains a central market in the company’s global expansion strategy.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the role, Lin stated, “Singapore is a world-class digital asset hub and a key market for OKX. I am excited to help strengthen our presence here. The MPI license represents a significant step in our mission to provide our customers with access to digital assets and to actively contribute to the local ecosystem. I look forward to collaborating with our partners, customers, and the broader community to best serve their needs.”

OKX SG initially received in-principle approval for the MPI license from MAS in February 2024. The company is currently assembling a world-class team of experts to support its expansion plans and enhance service offerings for customers in Singapore.
