CEO of Sky UK Stephen van Rooyen to Depart
After nearly 17 years with the company, Stephen van Rooyen, the CEO of Sky U.K. and Ireland, is set to step down from his role. The departure from the media conglomerate, owned by Comcast, is scheduled for February.
Van Rooyen, who also served as the Chief Commercial Officer for Sky Group, will officially leave his position, with his team now reporting directly to Sky Group CEO Dana Strong, effective immediately.
Expressing his decision to depart, van Rooyen stated that the business today has everything it needs to compete to win. He also thanked his colleagues for their support and commitment.
In response, Dana Strong acknowledged van Rooyen’s significant contributions over the past 18 years, emphasizing his instrumental role in developing and building the Sky brand. She highlighted his achievements in launching products, expanding the U.K. business into new markets, leading the team, and prioritizing customer-centric approaches. Strong credited him with delivering substantial growth for the company and acknowledged the impressive legacy he leaves behind. Alongside her colleagues, she extended best wishes to van Rooyen for his future endeavors.
