Epicor Promotes Joe Ayers to EVP and CFO

Joe Ayers has been elevated to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Epicor, the enterprise software vendor.

Having served as interim CFO in the past quarter, Ayers played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, operations, and execution. Officially taking on the CFO role, Ayers is set to continue steering Epicor’s fiscal strategy toward investing in technologies that enhance capabilities and value for industries involved in manufacturing, distribution, and retail, all while maintaining a focus on profitable growth.

Epicor CEO Steve Murphy emphasized the evolving role of finance within the business. Murphy also highlighted Ayers’ instrumental role in helping Epicor surpass the $1 billion annual revenue mark, expressing excitement about Ayers leading the company as it continues to expand globally.

Expressing his perspective on the evolving role of finance within Epicor, Ayers stated, “Much like Epicor serves its own customers, the Epicor finance team is working hard to equip our organization with the right data-driven insights at the right time to make the best decisions possible. It’s that shift from gatekeeper to growth-minded collaborator that’s so exciting and a big part of why I’m so pleased to take on this role in helping Epicor differentiate and scale across the industries we serve.”

Ayers brings more than 15 years of diverse experience encompassing audit & accounting, SEC reporting and compliance, M&A, global business and finance operations, SaaS business models, late-stage start-ups, and private equity. He initially joined Epicor in March 2021 as Vice President of Finance, overseeing financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and business intelligence.

Before his tenure at Epicor, Ayers spent five years in KPMG’s audit practice, focusing on private and Fortune 1000 public company audits. Additionally, he held positions at PG&E, concentrating on SEC reporting and technical accounting, and at Lithium Technologies (now Khoros), where he served as chief of staff to the CEO while leading finance and accounting operations.
