Markel Group is in a Turbulence of Leadership Changes
Brian Costanzo, the current Chief Financial Officer of the insurance business Markel, has been appointed as the new CFO of Markel Group, the parent company. He assumed this role on December 18 while maintaining his position as Markel’s finance chief.
The announcement from Markel Group stated that former group CFO Teri Gendron will depart from the company on December 31, having joined on March 20. The reason for her departure at the year-end was not disclosed.
In addition to Gendron’s departure, Markel’s President and Chief Operating Officer of Global Insurance Operations, Bob Cox, is also leaving before the New Year. Another notable change includes Alex Martin transitioning from the role of Markel CFO to becoming the President of Markel Specialty at the beginning of the current month.
Regarding Costanzo’s appointment, Tom Gayner, Chief Executive of Markel Group, expressed his enthusiasm.
Costanzo, having been part of the enterprise for 14 years, assumes the role of CFO for both Markel Group and Markel, overseeing and managing all financial operations for the holding company and the insurance division.
Furthermore, Meade Grandis, the Managing Director of Accounting Policy and Reporting with 13 years of tenure at the company, will take on the position of Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Markel Group.
