John Musachia: Leading with Consistency, Competing with Purpose

A Foundation in Athletics and Academics
John Musachia’s story begins at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he graduated in 1984. While earning his degree, he was also part of one of the school’s most accomplished NCAA top ten teams in track and cross country. That early blend of academic discipline and competitive endurance would go on to shape the rest of his life.
“Running teaches you more than stamina,” Musachia reflects. “It teaches you structure, patience, and how to commit to long-term progress.”
Following his undergraduate years, he continued his education at DePaul University and the University of St. Thomas, where he earned his MBA in 1994, preparing for a career that would span healthcare, mentorship, and community service.
Building a Career of Results and Recognition
Over a 25-year career in the medical technology and life sciences sector, Musachia has consistently ranked among the top performers in his field. Working as a Territory Manager at Edwards Lifesciences, he has received 16 President’s Club awards—a level of sales and leadership excellence recognised across five separate employers.
“Success in healthcare sales is about trust. You have to understand the science, but also the people.”
His consistent achievements speak to not just technical skill, but an enduring ability to build relationships, adapt, and deliver results in a complex and competitive industry.
Giving Back: Mentorship, Education, and Community Repair
Beyond business, Musachia has committed years to education, mentorship, and social impact. He serves on the Board of Directors at Perspectives Charter School in Chicago, where he also tutors students in math and science. He mentors young people through the Illinois Math and Science Academy’s Medicine for Minorities programme, helping guide underrepresented students toward careers in healthcare and STEM fields.
“Academic support shouldn’t end when the school day ends,” he says. “The right mentor at the right time can change a student’s entire path.”
Through his nonprofit, Rehab Assist 501(c)(3), he raises funds for housing repair projects in underserved Chicago communities. His charitable giving also extends to institutions that shaped him, including the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) and the historic Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.
Discipline in Motion: Martial Arts and Lifelong Growth
Musachia is also a dedicated martial arts practitioner, studying both Shotokan karate and Krav Maga, disciplines that reflect his lifelong interest in structured learning and personal resilience.
“Martial arts teaches you how to stay calm under pressure—something I’ve leaned on in every phase of my career.”
Whether in business, mentorship, or his own development, his approach remains steady: focus on the fundamentals, lead with integrity, and keep showing up.
A Career Grounded in Service
What stands out most in John Musachia’s story is his consistency. From the track to the boardroom, from classrooms in Chicago to community housing efforts, he continues to lead by example.
“Leadership isn’t a title. It’s how you show up when no one’s watching.”
