Top ten occupations with the most (and least) remote workers, 2025

The Digital Transformation followed the Industrial Revolution, and now we find ourselves amid a remote work revolution. With employees seeking greater flexibility, companies worldwide are reevaluating their business models to attract and retain top talent. As a result, various sectors, job roles, and countries are quickly adapting to a future of remote work. But which ones are leading the way?

Occupations related to food preparation and serving have the lowest percentage of fully remote workers, with only 0.3% working from home. Construction and extraction jobs are closely followed, with just 0.5% of employees working remotely. Transportation and material moving occupations rank third, with only 0.8% of workers able to work from home.

Next on the list are building and grounds cleaning and maintenance occupations, with a remote work rate of 1.2%. Finally, installation, maintenance, and repair occupations round out the list, with 1.4% of workers telecommuting.

Unsurprisingly, Computer and mathematical occupations have the highest percentage of fully remote workers, at 35.6%. Business and financial operations occupations are second, with 34.7% of employees working all their hours out of the office. Arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media occupations follow next, with 33.9% of employees working fully remotely. Legal occupations have the fourth highest rate of fully remote employees at 33.4%. Management occupations complete the top five jobs with the most remote workers, with 33.2% of employees working out of the office.
