JP Morgan has selected Kwang Kam Shing as the new CEO of its Hong Kong operations, replacing Harshika Patel. Patel, who led the Hong Kong branch for three years, will remain with the firm in her role as head of JP Morgan’s private bank in Asia.
Kwang will report directly to Sjoerd Leenart, CEO of the Asia-Pacific region, and will be responsible for overseeing governance, coordination, and regulatory controls for the Hong Kong office. Additionally, she will focus on enhancing employee engagement and strengthening ties with the local community, as noted in an internal memo referenced by the South China Morning Post.
Patel, who transitioned into the role of Asia private bank CEO in October last year, had taken over from Kwang in that capacity before the latest leadership reshuffle.
Despite her new role as Hong Kong CEO, Kwang will maintain her positions as chair of North Asia and vice chair of investment banking for Greater China. With more than three decades of experience in the financial sector, she has been a key player at JP Morgan since 1998, with expertise spanning private banking, asset management, and investment banking.
