Stefan Picard Takes Helm as CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Cambodia

Stefan Picard has been appointed as the CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Cambodia, bringing extensive experience in the travel retail industry. Since joining Lagardère Travel Retail in 1996, Picard has held several senior positions worldwide, most recently serving as the Executive Vice President of Commercial Development and Transformation.

In a LinkedIn announcement, Lagardère Travel Retail highlighted Picard’s deep understanding of the industry and his “unwavering commitment to operational excellence.” In his new role, Picard will lead efforts to establish partnerships in Cambodia, particularly for the opening of a 6,500-square-meter complex that will include duty-free, fashion, travel essentials, and food and beverage outlets at the new Techo International Airport.

The appointment follows Lagardère Travel Retail’s recent 12-year agreement with Cambodia Airport Investment Company, in partnership with HSC Group, to manage retail and dining operations at the airport. The first phase of the new airport is scheduled to be operational by 2025, replacing Phnom Penh International Airport as the main hub for Cambodia’s capital.

As part of this collaboration, Lagardère Travel Retail will oversee the management of duty-free and fashion stores, food services, and travel essentials, utilizing the expertise of its local partner, HSC Group. The 34 new outlets planned for Techo International Airport will cover a total of 6,500 square meters and will feature a variety of international, regional, and local brands. This addition will further expand Lagardère Travel Retail’s portfolio, which already includes over 500 stores across Asia.

The contract with Cambodia Airport Investment Company operates on a profit-sharing model, a strategy that Lagardère Travel Retail often favors. In the coming weeks, an interview with Lagardère Travel Retail Chairman and CEO Dag Rasmussen will be featured, where he will discuss future airport contract models in an in-depth conversation with The Moodie Davitt Report Founder and Chairman, Martin Moodie.
