Héctor Luján Appointed as New CEO of Hortifrut
Héctor Enrique Luján Valladolid will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Hortifrut, effective July 1, 2024, following a thorough international search. Luján will oversee the company’s global operations and will initially be based in the United States.
Current CEO Juan Ignacio Allende will transition to a director position within Naturipe, a company affiliated with Hortifrut in North America, and will also take on other strategic roles as determined by the Board of Directors.
Nicolas Moller, Chairman of Hortifrut’s Board, acknowledged Allende’s significant contributions as CEO, praising his vision and passion for the berry industry. Moller highlighted the company’s achievements under Allende’s leadership, including establishing Hortifrut as the leading blueberry company globally, with sales exceeding $1 billion. He welcomed Luján and expressed confidence in his ability to drive Hortifrut to new heights of growth, continuing to deliver the best berries worldwide.
Héctor Luján brings 28 years of experience in the agricultural sector, with 22 years specifically in the berry industry. His career has been marked by the management of global operations, leading diverse teams, and fostering talent development. Luján is recognized for his adaptability and exceptional human qualities, which have been instrumental in driving industry growth across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Allende, a renowned figure in the berry industry, has significantly contributed to Hortifrut’s global expansion through his ability to form strategic alliances, build high-performing teams, and develop business relationships.
Luján expressed his enthusiasm for leading Hortifrut and thanked the Board of Directors for their trust. He emphasized his commitment to the company’s entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and dedication to both people and the environment.
