Visit Tbilisi In Georgia For An Alternative Experience

If you hear someone tell you that they went to Georgia, you may be surprised. The truth is that when we talk about travel, unquestionably, other countries come to mind first. We are used to hearing about Spain, Italy, France, and England; however, if you love traveling, you have to visit Tbilisi.

A unique experience

The center is beautiful and picturesque, with lovely pedestrian streets, a Castle, and many shops. Walking through the city’s core, you will see new buildings. At the same time, you will understand very quickly that in Georgia, people have kept their traditions. Sure, you won’t say you’re in the most modernized city, but that’s the beauty of it, which is why many people from Asia prefer it.

Going 20 years back

The suburbs of the city are of particular interest. When I say suburbs, I don’t mean districts that are very far from the city but only 15 minutes away from the heart of Tbilisi on foot. If you research, you will see bazaars on the street and small producers and sellers that have filled the streets. They are in areas that really take you 20-30 years back. They remind you of another time. The houses are all very old (almost dilapidated), the roofs “half-broken,” people sitting in chairs in the streets outside their houses, and men shaving on the sidewalks. An amazing feeling on the streets, so romantic and retro and not at all scary.

Safe city

At this point, it is good to make a reference to the safety of the city. Each traveler thinks of certain things before they organize a trip. One of them is how safe the place is. Therefore, if you look on the internet, you will see that Tbilisi is very safe, as weird as that sounds. The only negative thing you will read concerns the medical treatment in the city, and this is quite reasonable if we admit that mainly, everything that has to do with the public sector is also connected with each country’s economy.

Uneven city

Walking is still very tiring, no matter how beautiful, picturesque, and romantic Tbilisi is. It is a city with many hills and, generally, quite uneven levels. Tourists are expected to walk a lot daily, so you may feel exhausted at the end of the day. For this reason, whoever has this destination on their agenda has to admit they will have to use a car or take it slow if they want to have an excellent experience.

The castle, the forest, and the “extreme sport” at the end

As mentioned above, there is a castle in the center of Tbilisi, and this is definitely a spot you should visit, either with the cable car that lifts you up or on foot. I suggest that you have a little patience and take it on foot upwards because the route is stunning. In the castle, you will also meet peddlers. There you can find various traditional things to buy. You can enjoy your coffee in small shops at the top of the castle and admire the whole city, which you can also photograph. Finally, you can sit on a chair that hangs from a rope, and when they release it, you can go back down extremely quickly.

Food and fun

In Georgia, you will have the opportunity to taste their traditional recipes. In every corner of the city, you will find shops where you can eat their traditional cheese pie. Also, if you have not traveled to similar countries, you will be impressed with the “Ovens.” With less than a dollar, you can eat something like a cheese pie, a traditional Georgian product, which is 30 cm long! Regarding entertainment, you will see several bars with cocktails, drinks, and beers.

Amazing photos

In conclusion, Georgia is a destination that allows you to take great pictures. Because it has several hills, the city is ideal for excellent shots. You will see the beautiful architecture in the center and have the opportunity to photograph the suburbs that take you many years back. Also, people’s faces are beautiful, and those who love street photography will create unique portraits. In short, if you love traveling, Georgia is a destination that you have to put on your schedule.
