Countries That Provide Free Citizenship

You may pursue the citizenship of another country to conveniently expand your business in that country or even live out your retired life in a laid-back country where the cost of living is less. Some countries require you to invest in their economy to apply for citizenship. Others may want you to create jobs for the locals. However, you can gain citizenship in some countries by ancestry, spoken languages, and years lived in the concerned country. The countries that offer citizenship for free are as follows:

Israel

Israel’s Law of Return allows anyone Jewish to migrate to Israel. You can also become an Israeli citizen if at least one of your parents is an Israeli citizen.

Paraguay

Paraguay is perfect for you if you seek citizenship without staying for too long in that country. You can also withdraw the entire deposit amount before applying for permanent residence. You must spend at least three years as a permanent resident in Paraguay before applying for citizenship. The individual has to spend a minimum of 183 days of these three years in Paraguay and pass a Spanish language exam. Also, you need to be familiar with the country’s geography, history, and politics. Paraguay is a great option if you wish to retire there. Finally, it doesn’t levy any import tariff on personal belongings.

Ireland

You may become an Irish citizen for free in several ways. If any of your parents was a citizen of Ireland or the UK when you were born, you are an Irish citizen. You only need to apply for a passport. Suppose you were born in another country, but any of your grandparents was born in Ireland, or any of your parents was an Irish citizen when you were born. In that case, you can claim Irish citizenship by registering your birth with the Foreign Births Register. You can then apply for an Irish passport. In short, the permutations and combinations of possible scenarios are endless. Still, you can claim or become an Irish citizen for free.

Canada

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship:

  • You must have Canadian permanent residence status and should have lived for at least three years in the five years before applying.
  • You should be proficient in speaking either English or French. Adults aged 18-54 must submit proof of language proficiency.
  • You must not have a criminal record.
  • Ensure you know about Canada’s geography, history, and political system. This is one of the most important parts of your application.
  • You can move to Canada if you have a spouse, a common-law partner, or a conjugal partner living in Canada as a permanent resident or citizen. They can sponsor your move if they are an adult without a criminal record that can sponsor a move without receiving social assistance. They should also be willing to stay in Canada even after moving there.

Mexico

To be eligible for applying to Mexican citizen:

  • You must have legally resided in Mexico for at least five consecutive years. This is reduced to two years if you are of Mexican descent, have Mexican children, have been married to a Mexican for at least two years, or have made a significant contribution artistically, athletically, culturally, socially, or scientifically to Mexico.
  • You can only spend a maximum of 180 days away from Mexico in the two years before submitting the application.
  • You must speak Spanish.
  • You should have a good understanding of Mexican history and culture.

  So, you can become a Mexican citizen for free if you fulfill the first criteria.
