Billy Bastek named Home Depot executive vice president of merchandising

Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, named Billy Bastek executive vice president of merchandising He succeeds Jeff Kinnaird. Kinnaird was named executive vice president of merchandising in October 2020.

Bastek’s new job is an internal promotion. William “Billy” Bastek most recently served as the retailer’s senior vice president for hardlines, prior to that role, he was merchandising vice president of hardware and tools.

“Billy is an experienced merchant, leader and mentor who is known for his innovative approach to merchandising, transforming The Home Depot’s product assortment and bringing incredible value to our customers,” said Ted Decker, chair, president and CEO. “We’re fortunate to have a talented bench of senior leaders like Billy, as well as future leaders across the company, and I look forward to working with him in his new and expanded role.”

“Jeff has made significant contributions to The Home Depot since starting in the lumber aisle nearly 27 years ago and progressing through every role in our stores,” said Decker. “His leadership of our Canadian division and more recently of our merchandising, marketing and online businesses is greatly appreciated. Jeff has been a champion of our culture and values, and I would like to thank him for his hard work and numerous contributions across his career. I wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, The Home Depot operates 2,322 retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces, and Mexico. The company employs approximately 475,000 associates.

Home Depot has been recognized as one of the world’s most influential and innovative companies, according to the CEOWORLD magazine; meanwhile, Home Depot CEO Ted Decker ranked No. 24 in the CEOWORLD magazine’s ranking of the world’s most influential CEOs and business executives for 2023. Last month, the company reported sales of $157.4 billion for fiscal 2022.
