3 Pieces of Advice That Will Make You a Better Leader In 2023

Before we know it, 2022 will be a thing of the past and 2023 will be knocking on our doors. With each new year, leaders are always looking for ways to raise the bar, innovate across teams, improve processes, and make the next year better than the previous. What about leaders themselves? What goals are leaders setting for themselves in order to support their teams in achieving those new goals, higher targets, and greater company milestones?

Here are three ways you can continue to grow as a leader as we head into 2023:

Inspire Others Around You

If you can have self-confidence, stand firm in your personal values, confront challenges thoughtfully with intention and determination, speak up for team members when they need the extra support, and handle difficult situations with empathy, I can guarantee that you will inspire those around you.

Creating buy-in to your vision and bringing your team along for the journey ahead in 2023 takes a lot of energy, so showing them that they have someone they can lean on if situations become challenging will empower them to trust you, buy-in to your vision, and come along for the ride.

Take Breaks and Vacations

You might be thinking to yourself, “Take breaks and vacations? We just had a bunch of time off. I can’t take time off!” You’re right. As we go through the holiday season and head into the new year, there are plenty of opportunities to take time off to reset and recharge with friends and family. However, do not wait until 2023’s holiday season to take your next break. If you feel like Q1 will be a constant sprint for you and your team, do not feel guilty about taking a few days to recharge and reset to be able to perform at your best during Q2.

It is essential for leaders to take time off to recharge, reassess, and remember why they’re so passionate about what they do day-in and day-out for their teams. As a leader, you must take the leap of faith that pulling yourself away for a short period of time will result in a more clear headed, well-rested version of yourself that will be able to continue to sustain momentum over a long period of time.

Implement a Personal Wellness Strategy

Start the new year out with a personal wellness strategy that you can share with your teams. When you take care of your mind and body, you are also taking care of your mental health.  We all feel better when we are more focused from a wellness perspective, and many people like to ring in the new year with wellness goals that can mark the start of a better, improved version of themselves. Iit is critical for you to continue to follow your wellness program throughout the year. Develop healthy wellness goals for your teams, and share the wellness journey with everyone. This is also another way to show your teams that you can keep your word and promises that you make to yourself.

As we close out 2022 and bring in the new year, let’s do so in a manner that will allow us to share our genius. Consistently find ways to inspire, take time off of work when you need a well deserved break, and develop a wellness program will not only set you off on the right foot but also your teams.
