All Reasons Τo Study Ιn Galway

Old street in Galway

To the west of the Republic of Ireland lies one of the friendliest cities in the world, Galway. Named after a namesake county town, it is presently one of the most populated cities in the country. People from all over the world are drawn to its charming offerings, which include picturesque landscapes, gastronomic delights, local festivals, and an amiable environment. No wonder it was the European Capital of Culture in the year 2020.
There is no gainsaying that it has a bewitching touristic appeal. However, you might be well aware of its standing as a highly preferred destination for a high-quality educational experience. Students from as many as 110 countries study in its various universities, which have emerged as centers of excellence on the global forum. But, of course, there is more to Galway than this and I will tell you more about that in the following discussion.

Here are the top reasons why you should study in Galway.

  1. A Friendly place
Traveling abroad for education is great but imagine the stress that one goes through while adjusting to an alien culture. You have stepped into a world barely known to you, and understanding of which is crucial to your future over there. Galway, however, makes it a little easier for students and anyone else. In the year 2020, Condé Nast Traveller ranked Galway as the most friendly European city. Note that this is not the first time that Galway has made it to the top. The US Travel+Leisure Magazine called Galway the friendliest destination in the WORLD. So, as a student, you shouldn’t find any dearth of congeniality in the city because there is none.
  2. Quite a decent number of options
Galway is a small city which means you will not find plentiful options to choose from as far as universities are concerned. That being said, whatever number is there, all of them are highly-reputed. These universities and colleges are the National University of Ireland, Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Galway Business School, Mercy College, and Galway Community College Further Education. Of these, the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway is the best performing in the city and has consistently ranked quite high on international rankings. NUI is home to an excellent research facility in Biomedical Science that is manned by an army of scientists and researchers.
  3. Highly business-friendly
It is not just quality education that students look forward to experiencing in a new city. Career opportunities are equally an important consideration. Galway has got you covered! The city is known for its business friendliness and has many big names established within its fold. It has already been named the Micro City of the Year by The Financial Times. It showed robust economic potential and was leading in terms of investment and development. It performed exemplarily on other parameters as well, such as lifestyle, human capital, and infrastructure.
  4. Galway is BEAUTIFUL
The medieval origins of Galway make it eye candy already. What adds to its small yet charming world is that it offers a package deal to anyone who visits it. You can explore the majestic Wild Atlantic Way that throws open the doors to incredible views. Just take a break from your studies and go around the Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, and Achill Island. Along the way, you will find quiet, pretty towns such as Clifden, Doolin, and Greencastle. Beyond all the natural endowments, you can indulge in a vast range of attractions and activities, such as shopping at Galway market, visiting the Galway Cathedral, or spending time at its museums.
