7 Secret Steps to Keep Business Booming

Amanda Hainline

When I was starting my business, I was full of fire. Ideas ran through me like a river and I had all the energy in the world to get things done. I was eating well, exercising, getting a decent amount of sleep, and — although I knew better — I was neglecting the one thing I preach all the time.

After a few weeks, my energy started to decline, frustration set in, and not-so-great snacks became the norm. My sleep schedule suffered and eventually, I came to a halt. Lying in bed with no energy to move a muscle, it hit me. I hadn’t worked on the one thing I was spending all my time writing about — taking care of my human energy system.

Self-care is something we all tend to neglect at least from time to time, but most of us have a few things that we toss in our “self-care” bucket and call it good. The problem is, most of the time the most important thing gets neglected: making sure we detoxify our energy systems on a regular basis.

When this system gets congested, we typically notice it first in our emotional state. We get cranky, have outbursts, withdraw, or can’t seem to get a clear head. If it isn’t addressed, it starts to affect our health directly and can show up in the form of physical illness, aches, lack of sleep, poor diet, and in advanced cases, chronic disease.

Most of us don’t correlate any of these things to our energy system because it isn’t something that we think about, but clearing out stuck emotions and energy on a regular basis can make a big difference in our physical health, job performance, relationships, and just our moods in general. You can think of it like flossing your teeth or working out. You may be able to get away with a few days of not doing it, but after a while, you start to really notice.

Our energy systems consist primarily of two things — the aura and the chakras. The aura is the field around us, and the chakras are the spinning wheels of energy running down the midline of our bodies that bring more energy into our energy system and physical body.

Both of these can get backed up with congested emotions and energy, causing a cascade effect that over time can stop us in our tracks.

So, if we can’t see our energy system, how do we know when we are getting “backed up” and need to detox this system? Below are a few things to watch for.

  • Getting frustrated or angry and not resolving it, as in not speaking up and just stuffing the emotions.
  • Spending time around someone negative or toxic. Our energy systems are a sponge that absorb energy from others.
  • Experiencing copious amounts of stress. This can be on a consistent basis or by experiencing a majorly stressful event.
  • Holding a grudge. This keeps toxic energy in our systems instead of letting it go.
  • If we experience anxiety, depression, or anger frequently. This comes from old traumas that are regularly getting triggered by new and similar experiences.

If you are experiencing any of these things, you most likely are retaining stagnant negative emotions and energy in your energy system. To cleanse it and get your energy flowing again, try some of the following:

  • Take a salt bath (or go for a swim in the ocean). Use two cups of epsom or dead sea salt and two cups of baking soda in a bath. Soak for 20 minutes. This mixture will draw out the negative, stagnant energy.
  • Saying the intention: “I choose to release all of the negative energy and emotions I am holding.” Then take a few deep breaths and envision the emotions floating off. Do this outside preferably.
  • Sit near a fire. Even a candle will do. Set the intention that the negative emotions are flowing out of you and into the flame.
  • Spend some time in the sun. This will help cleanse your system and boost your Vitamin D.
  • Play really positive music and sing it. This is a great way to clear out the energy in your throat if you have been biting your tongue about something.
  • Verbally resolve a dispute or talk about it with a friend. This gets the energy moving out of you and can bring mental and emotional resolve.
  • Move your body. Physical movement can help move the energy out of you, especially if you set this intention when performing the movement.

After trying some of the emotional and energetic clearing techniques above, you should feel lighter and more positive. Doing these things on a regular basis can keep your health in a great place, your stress to a minimum and your business booming.
