These three are the best colleges to study veterinary sciences in Canada, 2021

As part of the animal kingdom, we coexist with many other animals. Pets provide us with hearty companionship. Animals in zoos and circuses provide recreation. Several types of animals are reared for their meat, milk, skin, and other commercial products. And others’ existence plays a role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium.

Just like humans, even animals experience health issues that require medical attention. These issues hamper their growth or functioning. Veterinary doctors are adept at providing relief to such animals. These doctors can also contribute to the corporates that manufacture food or supplement products for animals.

Becoming a vet is an excellent career choice for those who love animals. Even the pay is substantial – the average annual salary for a veterinary doctor is C$83,000. Corporate vets tend to make more than those with a private practice.

A degree in veterinary science opens various avenues for you. You can transition into any of the numerous roles available at academic institutions, feed companies, laboratories, pharmaceutical sales companies, veterinary wildlife agencies, and even the military.

Canada has 5 veterinary colleges:

  • Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph
  • Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary
  • Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Université de Montréal
  • Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island
  • Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan

Out of these, only three have made it to the Global QS World University Rankings for 2020. These three are the best colleges to study veterinary sciences in Canada.
