5 Top Student Exchange Programs In The World You Should Know About

University Students

Student exchange programs are an engaging and positive experience. The purpose of these programs is to place students in varied academic and cultural circumstances and encourage them to learn from others. Moreover, these programs train students for their future. Most of these student exchange programs are operated at the high school and university level, though it is advised that you start participating in them from the high school itself. This will allow you to get the first-hand experience of what it means to live in a different setting as a student.

Around the world, there are many student exchange programs, international and regional. Many of these programs are facilitated by means of partnerships between universities or schools. But, there are some which have garnered laudation from the world. If at all you want a rich experience in your student exchange program, consider applying to the ones I am going to mention. The list below mentions programs for both high school and university students.

So, without further ado, let us take a look at what we have here.

  1. Erasmus Student Mobility Program
One of the most reputed student exchange programs in Europe and the world is the Erasmus Student Exchange Program. Undergraduate, as well as postgraduate students, can apply to this program so long as their European university collaborates with the program. The requirement, of course, is that you should be studying in an affiliate European university. The duration of the program varies depending on the options opted by the students and can last from 3 to 12 months. There is also a provision of scholarship, though it does not provide for the whole cover of the expenses. Under the said program, you can also apply for internships
  2. IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program
This student exchange program is offered by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). It is only available for doctoral students and offers extensive opportunities to the successful applicants to research on any of the focus areas of the IIASA. Moreover, you get to travel all the way to the beautiful Vienna and participate in a cultural swap as well. It is a very selective student exchange program and is only offered to 50 applicants. You should check out the official website to know more about the said program.
  3. Shanghai Jiao Tong University Scholarship
Student exchange programs can become expensive in absence of scholarships. Well, this one gives you a scholarship. China is home to some of the top-tier universities in the world, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This university offers full coverage to students who participate in its student exchange program. There are, however, restrictions as to the eligibility criteria. Only postgraduates and doctoral students can apply for the said program. With the help of this program, you will be given access to a range of research institutions, centers, and agencies.
  4. Global Undergraduate Exchange Program
Also known as Global UGRAD, this program offers undergraduates a wonderful opportunity to study in the United States of America. What’s more, you get to do that without paying for a full semester. The said program is administered under the aegis of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Note that this program is offered only with respect to non-degree courses. Throughout the program, you will be involved in regular lectures, community services, cultural programs, and whatnot. It is known to be one of the most popular student exchange programs in the country.
  5. INTERPOL Internships Program
Those of you who want to make a career in law enforcement should definitely not miss this opportunity. Interpol, France has started a laudable internship program wherein you get to intern at Interpol. You will get to stay in France, secure a monthly allowance of 550 Euros, and learn from the best in the law enforcement world. Of course, you must fit certain criteria. For example, you should be a graduate or enrolled in a graduate course and must be a citizen of any of the countries affiliated with Interpol. Usually, the duration of the internship varies and can last for an entire year, but that depends on the nature of the internship undertaken.
