5 Clothing Care Tips for your High-End Fashion

clothes, housework, laundry and people - male hands holding shirt and label with washing instruction

Buy high-end fashion is one thing; maintaining it is another. Spending so much money on buying luxury retail should serve as a reminder that we must take care of it as much as we can. If you are not careful, you will end up shelling more money on your fashion than you ordinarily would have expected. So, whether or not you like it, you must consider clothing care as seriously as you consider buying luxury retail.

Expensive designer clothing is not your regular clothing. It is created using the most delicate and beautiful fabric and by well-established personalities. When you wear such clothes, you carry along not only the clothing but also the brand. So, you should surely understand why taking care of these items of clothing should be of paramount importance. The question is, how.

Many of the clothing care tips mentioned in this article apply to regular clothing as well. But, I wouldn’t be writing about them unless people were mindful of these tips. So, read along and you will know how you should be taking care of your high-end clothes.

  1. A Good Brush
We often underestimate the benefits of brushing our clothes. Dust particles very easily stick to the fine fabric of your clothes and begin damaging them. Brushing your clothes periodically helps in containing the damage and keeping the fabric clean and strong. You should, especially, brush the heavier clothes such as jackets, suits, trousers because they are susceptible to dust. Invest in high quality, sturdy brush with soft bristles, or otherwise, the brush will do more damage than good. Also, while brushing, be slow and steady. You don’t have to brush your clothes too fast or the fabric’s fibers will become loose or discolored.
  2. Pay attention to your wardrobe
Even if you have done everything there is to take care of your clothes, an improperly maintained wardrobe can ruin all your efforts. Experts all around the world recommend that your high-end clothing should always go to a wardrobe that is clean, dry, and protected from UV rays. Not just that, you cannot simply leave your clothes hanging inside the wardrobe or else dust will settle on your clothes. Instead, consider packing your clothes in breathable plastic covers to prevent that from happening. Also, substitute chemical mothballs with natural options such as cloves because the former is toxic in nature and can impact the quality of the clothes.
  3. Arrange Your Clothes Soon After You Take Them Off
We all find it rather annoying to put back clothes in the wardrobe as soon as we come back. For most of us, this act requires no immediacy, and generally, this is the case. But, there are exceptions as well. High-end clothes are made of sensitive fabrics which means the more you keep them in a disorderly state the faster their quality will fall. If you are not immediate with this task, your expensive clothes will get soiled or misshapen. Make it your mantra to hang your clothes in the wardrobe the moment you take them off. Do not be swayed by the temptation of pushing them into the wardrobe and leaving them be in that state.
  4. Embellished Clothing need a lot of attention
There are certain categories of high-end clothing that need extra care. They are the ones that usually come with a lot of embellishments in the form of embroidery, beads, or sequins. Their fabric is very easy to peel off on the application of even slight force and must be treated with as much gentleness as possible. You have to be especially careful when you steam on them. Always go for the gentle seam on clothes in these categories. If you have even an iota of doubt regarding this, take these clothes to a professional cleaner.
  5. Professionals can be really handy
Remember the rule: if you are not sure, don’t do it. High-end clothing is nothing to sneeze at. When in doubt about its maintenance, it is always wise to seek the help of professional cleaners. Yes, it will be an added expenditure but less burdensome than losing expensive clothing due to recklessness.
