Top 10 Places in The US to Visit in The Fall, 2020

Fall offers great pictures of natural beauty. So, it’s about choosing the right place and the perfect company for you and travel to one of the best getaways. If you are still hesitant about which destination to choose in the United States just read this article.

  1. Tarrytown, New York
    Tarrytown is about an hour outside of New York City and 40 kilometers away from Manhattan. To the north side of Tarrytown is the village of Sleepy Hollow, where Washington Irving based his novel «The Legend of Sleepy Hollow». This village is the perfect destination visiting around Halloween. Tarrytown is worth visiting all year round but especially in the fall when the leaves change, the surroundings are really amazing.
  2. San Francisco
    There are plenty of things to do and see in San Francisco. Not to forget to mention that San Francisco is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. The best time for someone to visit San Francisco is during fall because the temperatures are warmer, the sun shines and the morning fog that is a common weather characteristic in the summer is absent.
  3. The Kentucky Triangle
    You might not think of any reason visiting the Kentucky Triangle during fall. Actually, there is a good reason. The Kentucky Triangle that includes three popular cities (Bowling Green, Owensboro, and Paducah) hosts a variety of interesting autumn events. Especially, Paducah is a UNESCO creative city full of history and art.
  4. New England
    What about Vermont’s Green Mountains? The best way of exploring Vermont’s Green Mountains is by driving across orange and red maple trees. There in the fall, you can enjoy warm sunny days and cool nights. Of course, don’t forget to check out the state’s highest peak at Mount Mansfield. Also, the village Cold Hollow Cider Mill is of great interest.
  5. Finger Lakes, New York
    Undoubtedly, the Finger Lakes is another great spot. Visitors can try a variety of sports activities like hiking, riding hot- air balloons, relaxing at spas, and spending precious time at vineyards. Every fall since 2015, the town of Ithaca hosts a «Harry Potter» themed festival. But it is not sure yet if it will take place this year, so if you decide to travel there only for this reason try to be informed first.
  6. Tennessee
    At the border between North Carolina and Tennessee, there are the Great Smoky Mountains known for its wildflowers, autumn colors, waterfalls, and black bears. In early October the Great Smoky Mountains are really beautiful when the leaves of the trees start getting orange color. There you can try hiking or if you want something more relaxing choose getting an aerial view with the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway.
  7. Salem, Massachusetts
    This place is full of spooky history as it is home to the historic Salem Witch Trials that occurred back in the 1600s. If you like adventure and of course don’t feel fear there are a lot of haunted attractions to check out.
  8. Door County, Wisconsin
    People who have already been there saying that it is the best fall foliage spots in the Midwest. The best time of the year to visit this region is in early October when all the leaves have changed. The main characteristic in Door County is the low temperatures as time passes and winter is approaching.
  9. Orlando, Florida
    You may not be used to cold fall days but it’s really worth trying and overcome low temperatures as days in Orlando are a unique experience for the whole family. Both Disney World and Universal Studios offer fun things to the visitors. Don’t forget that both theme parks have modified their fall events amid the coronavirus pandemic.
  10. Asheville, North Carolina
    It’s the perfect destination for hiking. The fall there offers a diverse color palette of foliage. Another perfect solution for those who want to relax is staying in a cozy cabin in the woods, just enjoying the view.
