Top 5 Educational Institutions in the US for studying Graphic Designing

The United States of America is a favorite destination for higher education. Harboring a heterogeneous population of students in many prestigious universities, colleges, and other institutions, the country is ideal for anyone who wants to seek a diverse and qualitative experience.

Unsurprisingly, the USA is known to be a fine choice for studying myriad courses—one of them is graphic designing. The industry of graphic design is very well-developed here and houses many high-paid individuals. If you are serious about graphic design, then you should surely consider applying for educational opportunities in this country. In order to make it to a good institution, you must main high academic scores and a portfolio of your creations. After all, without creativity, there is no room for you in the world of graphic design.

Now, what are those good institutions? I have mentioned 5 of them which you should consider.

  1. Parsons School of Design.
One of the most popular private colleges for studying design courses in the country, Parsons School of Design can be found in the bustling downtown Manhattan. Having been founded in the year 1896, it has undergone several christening ceremonies until it became what it is today. Its role in shaping the academia in the field of design is ubiquitously known, and this reflects in its memberships to the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design as well as the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. It is also the first design school in America to open a campus abroad, which is in Paris. Many personalities in the fashion industry have been alumni of this school such as Bella Hadid, Marc Jacobs, and Jo Copeland.
  2. Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
Another stellar addition to the list, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) was founded in the year 1877 making it one of the oldest colleges of art and design in the country. Situated in Providence, Rhode Island, students from all over the world apply to reap benefits of the studio-based educational experience at the school. There is also a museum called the RISD Museum that exhibits artworks from the past and the present. Moreover, the school runs an e-commerce website for marketing artwork created by RISD designers. Because of its reputation and excellent attention to academic development, there have been many notable alumni such as Rebecca Allen and Romeo Alaeff.
  3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
You cannot talk about the world’s best without MIT. Ever since its foundation in the year 1861, the institution has scaled up the ranks and is among the best places to study.  Intending to further industrialization in the United States, it has adopted an empirical approach towards education delivery as a result of which there are many laboratories it works with such as the Haystack Observatory. MIT is known for its high-standard course structure, emphasis on practical aspects of education, and entrepreneurially friendly environment. So, it is quite fitting that its alumni list is rich and include as many as 96 Nobel Laureates, 48 Rhodes Scholars, 58 recipients of National Medal of Science.
  4. School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
School of the Art Institute of Chicago can be founded in downtown Chicago and is a private institution of world-class credentials. With a legacy as old as 150 years, there is so much one can gain from studying here. It is the founder of the Visiting Artists Program (VAP) which incidentally is among the oldest such programs. The objective of this program is to provide designers with an opportunity to exhibit their designs to the public as well as deliver lectures or hold workshops. In addition, the institute maintains 2 galleries, Sullivan Galleries and SITE Galleries, to stimulate an educational environment. Its alumni include Georgia O’Keeffe and LeRoy Neiman.
  5. Pratt Institute.
Established in the year 1887, Pratt Institute is a renowned institution situated in Brooklyn with a satellite campus in Manhattan. Its academic structure comprises 6 schools, many of which are considered to be highly ranked internationally. Here, the focus is to infuse in research-oriented temperament in students so that they can understand subjects in greater and better detail. Its School of Art and Design has many departments catering to all kinds of courses such as Digital Arts, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, and whatnot.
