5 things you will find at the wondrous Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur

One of the best pages on my Instagram is that of Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur. It is quite fitting considering how bewitching this marvelous piece of architecture is. It is just not a palace from the older times but is a world-renowned place for seeking solace and luxurious comfort. Surrounded by a picturesque lake, a visit to Taj Lake Palace is one that will stay with you as long as you breathe. Everything about it is just perfect—from its old yet proud Aravalli Hills to the royal hospitality.

There is so much to know about this place. But, I suggest that you visit this place in body and soul to experience its true, uncorrupted magic. Well, you may want to have a head-start, though, so I have a bit of information to give you about this place and what to expect here in 5 good points. So, let us sit back and enjoy the past and present of the glorious Taj Lake Palace.

  1. It Began In the 18th Century
It was the 18th century when the then Maharaja Jagat Singh built this stunning building and christened it as Jag Niwas. Situated atop a small man-made island on Lake Pichola, Jag Niwas is made up of white marbles, precious stones, and grand fountains among many other decorations.

This palace is symbolic of the magnificence of the Mewar dynasty. It was in the year 1971 that the Taj Group took control of its management and transformed it into what it is now.

  2. Layers of Luxury
Taj Lake Palace is palatial, extravagant and extremely cozy. There is every element existing that gives it a nearly divine vibe, and you will get that from the various kinds of accommodation options here.

As of now, there are 7 categories of such facilities provided to the guests, depending on their in-room requirements and budgetary stipulations. These categories are Luxury Rooms Garden View, Luxury Rooms Lake View, Palace Rooms, Royal Suites, Historical Suites, Grand Royal Suites, and Grand Presidential Suite. In total, there are 83 accommodation facilities enough to cater to all the pampering needs of its guests.

  3. Food
While there are so many things to expect here, the best giveaways are arguably the food and the wellness programs offered here. So far as the food is concerned, it is simply sumptuous. There are three restaurants and bars that serve different cuisines to satisfy your palate.

The restaurants are Jharokha, which is functional throughout the day and serves international cuisines; Bhairo, which is where you will find lip-smacking European cuisine; and Neel Kamal, where you get to taste the authentic Indian cuisine. Its restaurants have received worldwide acclaim; for example, in 2012, its Bhairo restaurant won in the category of the most romantic restaurant.

  4. Wellness is a priority
When we are on a vacation, our hotel is where we can relax because sight-seeing can be tiring. So, expecting a good wellness program in any hotel is natural and very much needed. We all want to relax and soothe our body and soul—and Taj Lake Palace knows that. Over here, you will find a good quality wellness regime that will make you feel at home.

There is a well-supervised Jiva Spa, even a spa boat to take self-pampering to a whole new level, a well-equipped fitness center, saloon, Jacuzzi and an outdoor pool with a mesmerizing view of the lake. All the members of the staff are professionally trained, polite and amenable to the needs of the guests. Say the word and they will be right there at your service!

  5. Achievements of the Hotel
If all the above was not enough to convince you, then you should take a look at the galaxy of awards that this hotel has received. Conde Nast traveler awarded it the World Savers Award in 2013.

It was the number one Readers’ Choice by Conde Nast Traveller in 2019. In the same year, it climbed up to the number 2 spot as the world’s best hotel. It also featured in the list of Asia’s best resorts in 2012 and is a recipient of the 2012 Fodor’s 100 Hotel Award in the Royal Pedigree category.
