Asia’s Richest Man Title: Jack Ma Vs Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Ambani has lost the Asia’s Richest Man title to Jack Ma. With a net worth of $43.4 billion, as on the day of filing this story, Mukesh Ambani is placed on the 19th position on Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking of the richest people, preceded by Jack Ma with net worth of $44.6 billion.

Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Bernard Arnault, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg were the top five on the list with net worth of $113 billion, $105 billion, $77.9 billion, $77 billion, and $65.3 billion respectively.

Apart from the Chinese e-commerce tycoon Jack Ma, Pony Ma (No. 20; $38.9 billion), Hui Ka Yan (No. 32; $24.5 billion), Yang Huiyan (No. 34; $23.9 billion), He Xiangjian (No. 41; $22.1 billion), William Ding (No. 44; $19.6 billion), Colin Huang (No. 49; $18.2 billion), Wang Jianlin (No. 57; $16.4 billion), Zhang Zhidong (No. 58; $16.4 billion), Zhong Huijuan (No. 70; $15.8 billion), Liu Yonghao (No. 86; $14.2 billion), Sun Piaoyang (No. 93; $13.6 billion), and Qin Yinglin (No. 98; $13.1 billion) are the other twelve Chinese in the top 100 list.

After oil prices collapsed along with global stocks, Indian energy tycoon Mukesh Ambani is no longer Asia’s richest man, relinquishing the title to Jack Ma. Apart from Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Azim Premji (No. 66; $15.9 billion), Shiv Nadar (No. 82; $14.5 billion) and Uday Kotak (No. 96; $13.4 billion) are the other three Indians in the top 100 list.

Stock market mayhem – WHO ELSE LOST BILLIONS?

Only a few of the world’s billionaires did well after Monday’s collapse. Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates lost more than $5 billion each in the rout. But no one did worse than those whose fortunes are underpinned by oil.
