Scholarships For International Students Planning To Study In Sweden, 2020

To reward outstanding achievement and to help ensure that fears about finance do not constrain prospective international students from considering study at some of the best universities in Sweden. A number of Swedish Universities offer scholarships specifically for developing countries – outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland).

Scholarships for International Students Planning to Study in Sweden, 2020

1. The Karlstad University Global Scholarship Program: Aimed at top academic students from countries outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland), this program by Karlstad University offers both full and partial scholarships for tuition fees. Application for Karlstad University Global Scholarship will be accepted 1 December 2019 to 1 February 2020.
   This scholarship program is not open for students from the following 12 countries: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Students from these countries instead have the possibility to apply for The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships.
   You are not eligible for this scholarship if any of the following is true:
   # You have already lived in Sweden for two years or more when the scholarship period is due to begin.
   # You have a Swedish permanent residence permit or a work permit.
   # You hold a scholarship for studies from Swedish Institute or from a Swedish university/university college.
   # You already hold a master’s degree from a Swedish university/university college.
   What costs does the scholarship cover?
   Scholarships cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fees. The scholarship value is deducted from the tuition fees of the program for which you are awarded a scholarship. Please note that Karlstad University Global Scholarships do not cover living costs.
   How to apply?
   The application needs to be received on 1 February 2020 at the latest. Late applications will not be considered. You must apply for studies at Karlstad University before applying for a scholarship. In order to apply click here.
2. Linköping University (LiU) International Scholarship: The LiU International Scholarship is aimed at supporting international master’s degree students with significant academic potential who are required to pay tuition fees. The highly-ranked Linköping University offers scholarships to support international students in completing their Master’s degrees. The tuition fees for a student awarded a LiU International Scholarship are reduced by 25, 50, or 75%. We offer a limited number of these scholarships to new students. Students who have applied for a master’s program at Linköping University and who meet all of the following conditions are eligible to apply for a scholarship.
3. Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) Scholarship Programme for Prospective and Current students: BTH offers a number of scholarships covering the tuition fee in part or in full. For the academic year, 2020/2021 BTH will offer two scholarship programs: BTH scholarship program for prospective students and BTH scholarship program for current students. Note that these scholarships do not cover your living expenses!
   The program for prospective students is available for citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are required to pay tuition fees for Swedish university education.
4. Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals: The Swedish Institute has recently launched a new scholarship program called the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) that replaces the previous Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS). These scholarships are offered for Master programs that begin in Autumn 2020, open for applications between 10-20 February 2020. An estimated 300 scholarships will be available for full-time master’s degree studies in Sweden starting in the autumn semester 2020.
   The scholarship covers:
   # Tuition fees: pay directly to the Swedish university by SI
   # Living expenses of SEK 10,000/month
   # Travel grant of SEK 15,000
