The Biggest Tech Billionaires Winners And Losers Of 2019

It’s been a good year so far for tech billionaires. As of October 30, 2019, the world’s richest 66 tech billionaires have all seen massive additions to their net worth in 2019, with just a few exceptions.  The year’s biggest gainer by a vast margin was MacKenzie Bezos, ex-wife of Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. On Wednesday, MacKenzie Bezos’ total net worth on the CEOWORLD magazine’s rich list index is $35.5 billion.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg trailed MacKenzie Bezos among year’s winners, adding $20.7 billion to his net worth. To identify 2019′s biggest winners and losers – Tech Billionaires, CEOWORLD magazine reviewed Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. Altogether the ten biggest gainers in the world added a total of $136.66 billion to their fortunes in 2019.

Unchanged: 1 (Zhang Yiming)

Largely due to a costly divorce from MacKenzie Bezos, Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder (and richest man in the world) saw the biggest drop in 2019 as his net worth fell nearly $14.9 billion, leaving the 55-year-old with a relatively meager $110 billion fortune.

Robin Li, co-founder, and CEO of Chinese tech big-hitter Baidu trailed only Jeff Bezos among the biggest losers in 2019, losing $3.88 billion to his fortune.

Lei Jun (-$2.5 billion), Travis Kalanick (-$1.26 billion), Frank Wang (-$1.11 billion), Pierre Omidyar (-$920 million), Kim Jungju (-$404 million), and David Cheriton (-$39.9 million) made up six of the eight biggest losers this year.

The exception: ByteDance CEO Zhang Yiming’s net worth remained the same at $13 billion, with no year-to-date change.
