7 Myths about Men Fashion You Need To Stop Believing

Men’s fashion is not as easy as we think it is. It is as much complicated as that of women’s and cannot be casually dealt with. In today’s world, men have become conscious of their fashion choices, but most of the time they get unduly influenced by commonly accepted myths.

The purpose of myths is to make you believe in something which is commonly accepted but wrong—and trust me, men’s fashion industry is full of them. In this article, I will tell you about 7 myths in the men fashion industry which you should not believe.

Match Shoes and Belt

I have heard it a lot of times from my guy friends that shoes and belts should match in color. While this is not entirely false, the extent to which it is accepted is not fashion-friendly.

You may want to match shoes and belt; you can also prefer going for slightly varying shades to get an edgy look. However, the tone difference must not be too extreme or too less. However, if you intend to wear contrasts, make sure they get along with the entire look.

No Formals without Ties

There is a common misconception among people that ties are a must-go with every formal outwear, especially in the case of men formal outwear. It is an outdated rule and does not invite much acceptance in the fashion industry,

Ties add style to your formal look, no doubt about that, but they are not indispensable to your look. You can do without them, even during interviews provided that your formal outwear is worn properly and smartly.

No Flowery Patterns

We have been associating flowers with femininity for so long that it becomes difficult to imagine men wearing floral patterns. However, the 21st-century men fashion is shattering all ceilings and setting up new trends. Today, floral patterns are stylish in men fashion.

There are many outwears bearing floral patterns designed especially for men. From ties to pairs of trousers, you can find those otherwise stereotyped floral patterns. And, believe me, they look totally cool!

Denim Over Denim Is A Big No

This myth is losing ground increasingly, but that does not mean that only a few people believe in it. Wearing denim over denim is difficult to pull off, but there is no bar in trying out this style. In fact, if you are able to pull off this style in the right way, then you would look utterly smart and confident.

Just to give you an example on how denim over denim can be effectively carried out: wear a light shade pair of jeans coupled with a darker shade shirt. The easiest way to pull off this look is to couple two contrasting shades denim—this works most of the time!

Pink? God, No!

Pink has been egregiously stereotyped and is largely misunderstood to be the color of women. This naturally gave way to a myth that men should not wear pink because it makes them look feminine. YOU NEED TO TOTALLY IGNORE THIS MYTH.

Pink is a lovely shade which works equally well on women as well as men. In fact, the men fashion industry has transformed considerably and embraced pink shades. Today, it is not uncommon to find pink men outwear in stores.

Believe me, wearing pink will not negatively impact your masculinity; in fact, it will show that you are comfortable with who you are and that your masculinity is not defined by what you wear.

Go For Loose Fits

I have been hearing a lot that guys should wear loose-fitting clothes. But, actually, they should wear clothes which fit them perfectly. Wearing clothes which are too loose can accentuate girth. Also, you should not go for tight clothes because they stick to your body and may accentuate areas which you do not want to show.

Wear Your Sunglasses Indoors

You need to understand that the very purpose of sunglasses is to protect your eyes from the Sun and to make you look stylish. This does not mean you can wear them wherever you want. Indoors are not the right places to wear sunglasses unless you are a celebrity (even then, you are not likely to be excused!). Take it outdoors, ALWAYS!
