Market Share Of The World’s Biggest Arms Importers Between 2014 to 2018, By Nation

Saudi Arabia was the biggest arms importer from 2014-18, which accounted for 12 percent of the total imports during the period leaving behind India. India was the world’s second largest importer of major arms in 2014-18 and accounted for 9.5% of the global total.

To identify the biggest arms importers in the world, CEOWORLD magazine studied the 10 countries with the highest shares of global arms imports in the five year period 2014-18 using the latest data provided by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). After eight years of holding the position of the biggest importer of of major arms, India has been superseded by Saudi Arabia and dropped down to become the world’s second largest importer of weapons.

The data below shows the market share in the import of conventional weapons by nation in the years from 2014 to 2018.

Percentage of conventional weapon imports: 4.2%

7. United Arab Emirates
Percentage of conventional weapon imports: 3.7%

8. Iraq
Percentage of conventional weapon imports: 3.7%

9. South Korea
Percentage of conventional weapon imports: 3.1%

10. Vietnam
